According Fergus Walsh @BBCFergusWalsh via his Twitter account stated that he put a video call through to Elisa Granato, the first volunteer recipient of the Oxford COVID-19 jab human trial.
In his words;
“Fake news has been circulating on social media that the first volunteer in the Oxford vaccine trial has died. This is not true! I spent several minutes this morning chatting with Elisa Granato via Skype. She is very much alive and told me she is feeling “absolutely fine” https://t.co/iWAtYaSkRZ ”
She is “ABSOLUTELY FINE” he reiterated.
The head of the Oxford Vaccine Group, Prof Andrew Pollard, who is leading the trial said
“this sort of fake news could damage our ability to tackle a pandemic. We can’t let that happen.”
Links to article were posted in a number social mediums which oppose vaccination. The claim has circulated in several languages. These is totally insensitive and counter-productive.
While the human trial in the US Remdesivir has failed, hope is still on the Oxford trail where no fatality is yet to be recorded.
